CHIMAR HELLAS SA was the last stop of the “Productive Truancy” from Alexander Innovation Zone for the current school year with the vocational senior high school of Naoussa and the teacher Thomas Tsiakiris on April 15, 2021 in Thermi, Thessaloniki. Chimar is a leading innovative company that operates internationally in the industrial production of adhesives and their chemical additives.

Alexander Innovation Zone, through an interactive discussion, introduced students to the concepts of entrepreneurship and innovation. Then, Mr. Karolos Markesini, the Vice President R&D Department of CHIMAR, presented to the students a corporate video and Mrs. Marianna Harisi, Head of Sales Promotion, informed them about the subject of activities, as well as about the way in which such a large-scale company operates with 98% exports in 40+ countries. It is estimated that more than 10% of the world production of composite wood and at least 1.7 million tons of adhesive resins are produced annually by CHIMAR expertise and services. As Mrs. Harisi noted, “The main weapon for the professional career of young people is the English language“, urging students not to be afraid and dare, but always with essential values of virtue and truth.

Mrs. Zoi Nikolaidou, Lab Manager, virtually guided the students in the laboratory with the help of specialised staff, where detailed methods and measurements accredited by the National Accreditation System were presented. Mrs. Nikolaidou also stressed the importance of “collaborative spirit” and teamwork in a company, stating that “the team is a necessary model for the future“.

Ms. Electra Papadopoulou, Senior Researcher and Bioeconomy Expert and Paschalis Tsirogiannis, Senior Technical Representative, talked about their job and personal path, while all executives answered students’ questions about the main specialties of the company such as Chemist, Chemical Engineer, Petroleum Technologist and Electrical Engineer. As it was pointed out, “Aim for what you like to do and determine the path to achieve it”.

The action was completed with the study of a case with the help of Mrs. Nikolaidou, where students were asked to recognize artificial wood objects in their school and present their results to groups.
