Alexander Innovation Zone supports SXSW Greek mission

Alexander Innovation Zone, within the context of the extroversion initiatives undertaken recently, gives the chance to startups (up to 3) residing in the innovation ecosystem of Thessaloniki Innovation Zone to take part in the mission organized by the Hellenic Initiative, International Accelerator and the US Embassy of Athens to Austin, Texas between 9 and March 15 and attend SXSW 2016 (interactive session).

This is the third year that this mission is being organized, and this year 30 Greek startups are expected to take part.

If you are interested, please send us a short company profile, summarizing the reasons for your interest in participating in the mission, as well as your website (required) by email to info@thessinnozone.gr.

Alexander Innovation Zone, withing the context of supporting startup entrepreneurship, is willing to conditionally undertake part of the travel costs (up to 350 euros) for each startup selected by the ecosystem.

Expression of interest does not constitute in any way participation in the mission. Selection will be made exclusively by the organizers without the engagement of Alexander Innovation Zone and with the same criteria relating to fellow participants and mainly to company’s recent traction and potential. It will be a strict order of priority as determined by the date of dispatch of the email.

For any questions please send an email to iordanidou@thessinnozone.gr, papatzika@thessinnozone.gr

A few words about SXSW

SXSW is a multithematic event, probably the largest of its kind globally, attracting close to 300.000 attendants. The interactive session is the one that is relevant to the start-ups. The Hellenic Initiative will cover the cost of the badge, the pitching event venue, the exhibit hall for ½ day and the expenses related to the party in a downtown location for 400-500 mentors, angels, VC’s and other VIP’s. They also plan to have media coverage of Greek startups attending the event this year as well.

In terms of expenses, this still means that startups need to cover the cost of travel (airline tickets) plus accommodation (many startups choose airbnb) and food during the days in Austin.
