Insights from the Conference “Innovation Ecosystem and Spin-offs in Thessaloniki: From Research to Society”

The Conference: “Innovation Ecosystem and Spin-offs in Thessaloniki: From Research to Society”, held on Monday 17 February 2025 at the Centre for the Dissemination of Research Results (KEDEA) of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, gathered a large number of participants from academia, research and business.

The event co-organized by the Alexander Innovation Zone (AIZ), the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the Hellenic Centre for Research and Technological Development (CERTH), the University of Macedonia (UOM), the International University of Greece (IHU), and the Industrial Property Organization (OBI), was a dynamic forum for dialogue, where the potentiality and prospects of spin-offs in strengthening innovation and entrepreneurship in Thessaloniki and throughout Greece, were addressed and highlighted.

Greetings at the conference were delivered by the Deputy Minister of the Interior (Macedonia-Thrace), Mr. Konstantinos P. Gioulekas; the Deputy Regional Governor for Digital Governance of the Region of Central Macedonia, Mr. Nikos Tzollas; the Rector of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Prof. Charalambos Feidas; the President of CERTH, Dr. Dimitrios Tzovaras; the General Director of the Industrial Property Organization (OBI), Mr. Panagiotis Kanellopoulos; the Vice-Rector for Outreach of the University of Macedonia, Prof. Alexandros Chatzigeorgiou; the Rector of the International Hellenic University, Prof. Stamatis Angelopoulos; and the President of the Alexandria Innovation Zone (AZK), Dr. Panagiotis Kettikidis. The event was moderated by the Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Prof. Kyriakos Hyakinthos.
