Fostering Global Collaboration and Innovation in Thessaloniki
The digital nomad community returns to Alexander Innovation Zone, in Thessaloniki. After the successful collaboration of the AIZ with the Digital Nomads Community of Thessaloniki in 2023, this year we proudly launched a new series of workshops, connecting Greece’s prospering startup ecosystem with digital nomads from around the world.
The latest series of workshops, which commenced on October 1, 2024, covered a diverse range of topics aimed at equipping participants with practical skills and insights for today’s dynamic professional landscape.
Workshop Highlights
- Marketing Fundamentals: Build Reputation, Monetize Growth
Led by Jacob Zangel, a renowned Growth Consultant, this session focused on achieving a balance between brand and growth marketing. Jacob emphasized a “give and take” strategy, where providing value through brand marketing creates demand, which is then monetized through growth strategies. His insights on the G.R.O.W.S. process provided participants with actionable steps to transform ideas into sustainable growth, helping startups and freelancers alike enhance their brand visibility and revenue potential.

- Understanding the Media Ecosystem of the 21st Century
On October 16, Jocelyn Macurdy Keatts, Journalist and Media Consultant, hosted a deep dive into the modern media landscape. Jocelyn’s workshop highlighted the power of niche digital platforms and effective use of SEO through backlinks. She provided strategic advice for entrepreneurs on building media relationships and leveraging timely topics to reach segmented audiences. The interactive session offered valuable insights into crafting content strategies for platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and podcasts, connecting participants to meaningful media opportunities.

- Architecting Applications for Resiliency and Scalability
In the final workshop of the series, Giselle van Dongen shared her expertise on application architecture, discussing the pros and cons of monolithic and microservices structures. She introduced Durable Execution as an emerging solution that streamlines microservices architecture, offering built-in resiliency for efficient operations. Participants gained practical knowledge on how to scale applications while maintaining stability, making this session particularly valuable for tech professionals.
